Answers to common questions about our process.

How long does the initial assessment take?

We conduct a very thorough medical history, examination and battery of testing. Plan to spend about 2-3 hours for your initial intake assessment.

No, because we become your PCP! An integral part of good longevity medicine is being there for you when you need us most in those times of acute illness. Not only do we want to be your longevity medicine health coaches, we also want to shepherd you through those acute care and chronic care needs. This allows for better overall continuity of care.

The short answer–no. The long answer–insurance typically reimburses very little, if anything, for preventative care services. Furthermore, they generally do not reimburse anything for the proactive care plan and testing methods that we use. Also, when doctors accept reimbursements for services by third-party payers, they are subject to limitations on how they practice medicine based on what insurance will or will not cover. Sadly, in the insurance based models, physician autonomy continues to be eroded, and ultimately much of the medical decision making is done by your insurance company, not your doctor. As such, in order to practice medicine the way that we see fit, and to provide our patients with better care and outcomes (in our opinion), we do not accept insurance payments. Decision making is simply between you and your doctor–the way it should be!

Once the results of the initial intake assessment are back, you will have an extensive follow-up visit with your physician to review your results and develop a strategy to further optimize your health over the coming year. Because we practice personalized, precision medicine, no two care plans are the same, and your unique findings and variables are taken into consideration to develop a custom-made care plan that will optimize your outcomes.

While we do perform telehealth calls routinely, we do not generally make hospital visits or house calls. We use a lot of advanced equipment and diagnostic tools, and we are best suited to care for you in our office-based setting. We do have access to most of the major hospital records systems, however. So rest assured that if you become hospitalized, we will follow along with your progress and actively advocate for you with your care team in that setting.

Our goal is 0 minutes. Your time is valuable, and we understand that. Ideally, we may be able to avoid an office visit altogether as we can often troubleshoot problems with fast and convenient telehealth visits. But in the event that we need to see you in the office, our goal is to get you in and out as fast as possible. That means no waiting around in the waiting room. Just fast, efficient care to get you back to healthy and functional as fast as possible.
